The Taste Mastery education and certification program was established in 2020 with the purpose of offering rigorous and comprehensive credentials for expertise in global specialty foods and beverages.

Our founding partners have successfully built several industry-leading organizations in the field of flavor appreciation, including The Sommelier Company (the world leader in wine expertise), the Masters of Coffee program, and The Council of Whiskey Masters (the world leader in whiskey certification).

The Advisory Board of Taste Mastery Global consists of some of the most respected professionals in the world of flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Which tasting specialties are available through this study & certification program?

We offer fully separate certifications for the following specialty foods and beverages: Tequila, Mezcal, Wine, Beer, Vodka, Rum, Gin, as well as Cigars, Cannabis, Honey, Chocolate, Olive Oil, Vinegar, Coffee, Tea, Sauces, Spices, Cheeses, and Barbecue.

How can I become a certified Master in my topic of interest?

Enroll here on the website to start the study program. There is no required prior knowledge, we will build out your competence with a clear introduction to the topic and from there into true expertise. Once you feel that you have mastered the provided study materials, you may schedule the online exam and aim to pass with a score of at least 75%. The exams are demanding and comprehensive. If you pass, you will receive your diploma, a lapel pin, and lifelong right to carry your title and associated postnominal.

Is it safe to sign up? What if I don’t wish to continue once I am enrolled?

Join the program without risk. If you change your mind or lose confidence in the program, or don’t see a path to succeeding in the program, you may request a full refund within two weeks of signing up. You will have no problem reaching our office anytime—our phone number and email address are at the bottom of this page—and your credit card will be refunded immediately. After that two-week review period your enrollment will be non-refundable.

How are the exams organized?

Our Master certification programs are in self-study format, culminating in a 45-minute, 50-question online exam. Exam dates are posted well in advance on a designated webpage and are available for booking several times each month. You may choose any upcoming exam date you like, as long as you set a date within 18 months of your enrollment.

Are all study materials included?

Study materials are provided to each candidate upon registration, and the exams consist only of material covered by the study guides we provide. The exams can taken from anywhere in the world, provided internet and phone connections are available.

What are the benefits of the study program and its certifications?

Several reputable certifications in wine, spirits and specialty food products exist already. Until now, no consistent and rigorous education and certification programs had been offered by a global organization that allows candidates from around the world to pursue their passion and be measured by a worldwide standard. The Taste Mastery designations represent a new standard in the world of specialty foods and beverages. Certification allows professionals, trade members and private enthusiasts alike to objectively demonstrate specialized knowledge and skill. They give evidence of achievement to employers, to the public, and to yourself.

What is the relationship, if any, between the Taste Mastery certification programs and
the Master Sommelier, Master of Wine, and Master of Whiskey programs?

The “Master Sommelier”, “Master of Whiskey” and “Master of Wine” programs are currently the most prestigious titles in the field of wine and whiskey. We are not associated with the “Master of Wine” or “Master Sommelier” organizations. Taste Mastery is opening global standards to more food and beverage categories than wine and whiskey, covering all important specialties with similar knowledge and examination standards, open for everyone in the world to become a competent aficionado or professional in the field.

How much prior experience is necessary to enroll
in the study program and successfully pass the exam?

Our study programs are designed to build your knowledge without significant prior knowledge. They offer a clear and comprehensive introduction, covering all essential aspects of their subject. Using the world’s best reading materials in each subject, we take you from zero to professional-grade competence.
